Updated: Dec 3, 2020

Congratulations to our faculty member, assistant professor Dr. Gaochuang Cai, for his two academic papers were awarded as highly cited papers in Web of Science, and one of them was rated as a hot paper. These two papers are related to the perfection of the theory of external confinement reinforcement law of composite materials in concrete. Among them, the hot paper published in the Structural Journal in American Society of Civil Engineers(ASCE) is about the seismic performance of structural concrete columns under the confinement of composite materials in harsh environments, which has important guiding significance for improving the safety of concrete buildings in an aggressive environment, such as the underground structure of offshore buildings. Another paper published in Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier) is about the basic material mechanical properties of composite material confined ice columns, which can promote the construction of buildings at Polar regions and the rapid construction of temporary buildings in cold areas.

Hot paper* and Highly-cited paper** :(top 0.1% and 1% in Engineering)

*This hot paper was published in the past two years and received enough citations in July/August 2020 to place it in the top 0.1% of papers in the academic field of Engineering.

**As of July/August 2020, this highly cited paper received enough citations to place it in the top 1% of the academic field of Engineering based on a highly cited threshold for the field and publication year.
