Dr. G.C. Cai (Ph.D.)
Associate professor, Chiba University, Japan
Adjunct Professor, ENISE, University of Lyon, France
Principal Investigator, Lab. for High-performance and Sustainable Building Materials and Structures
Dr. Cai's research activities range from structural design and building materials (durability and sustainability), which forms two themes of his research, i.e., the safety of structures under extreme loadings (e.g. earthquake); and reuse and recycling of building wastes arising from the extreme loads, in particular applications of the wastes in concrete industries. His research has been conducted using advanced numerical methods, algebraic analysis, and experimental verification. Dr. Cai is performing many collaborations with international leading academic partners and local industry partners.

Prof. Amir Si Larbi
External collaborators
Prof. Si Larbi is a full professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Lyon, France. His research interests include Innovative materials and structural engineering for civil engineering.
Prof. Konstantinos Daniel Tsavdaridis
External collaborator (long-term)
Konstantinos (Kostas) Daniel Tsavdaridis is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering at City, University of London (UK). He started his career at City, University of London as a Lecturer in Civil/Structural Engineering in 2010. He did a break to work in the industry as Principle Structural Stress Specialist for the Nuclear industry, and then continued his academic career at the University of Leeds as Assistant and later Associate Professor of Structural Engineering, until he joins City again, as a Full Professor of Structural Engineering in 2021.
Prof. Tsavdaridis' Group focuses on static, quasi-static and dynamic full and large-scale laboratory-based testing on steel and steel-concrete composite structural members and systems. In 2014, he contributed to the successful EPSRC Strategic Equipment Grant proposal funding a Multi-Axial Shaking Table (EP/L022648).
